Greetings, nostalgic alumnus. You probably have good reason to believe that your alma-mater has undergone changes which have rendered it quite altered, if not utterly unrecognizable. However, at the heart of it all, the institution and the people involved therein still adhere to the same principles and philosophy they have followed all these years.
There have indeed been sea changes in the tangible aspects of college life here. Wi-fi connectivity has been introduced into the campus, so as to facilitate independent research without having to depend on a few select consoles. The library collection has been expanded to include various new publications and journals. A Centre for Electronic Design and Technology (CEDT) was also set up on campus in 2003. The CEDT, which is Prof. Dhananjay V. Gadre's baby, is an extremely well-equipped lab (apart from the basic electronic components like ICs and the like, it also boasts of a PCB-cutting machine). The projects which have had their inception in the CEDT range from the highly complex Wireless Train Information System for the DMRC to the very romantic Touch-Sensitive LED Throbbing Heart. Apart from being an electronics lab, the CEDT also offers consultancy services, short term professional courses and product development for industry. The computer centre is also under construction.
However, college life is not just about academics, as we all well know. As far as accommodation is concerned, two new hostels for the boys have been established (and one for the girls is in the offing), while the facilities in the existing hostels for both boys and girls have improved greatly. For the day scholars, one Nescafe outlet, one Cafe Coffee Day outlet, a Jeeto outlet and a Just cafeteria have been established, adding to the variety of the food and beverages available on-campus (and, of course, to the number of places to spend time away from classes ::wink wink::). On the sports front, there are talks of renovating the tennis court after an unprecedented rise in the number of people who have taken up this sport seriously. A cricket club has also been established.
NSIT continues to live up to its legacy of sending a great number of people into some of the finest institutions for higher studies, be it for an MBA or an MS. The number of students who decide to pursue higher education has gone up exponentially in recent years, with quite a few of them going abroad, especially to the US, for technical education, while the MBA-aspirants from NSIT continue to storm the bastions of the IIMs. As far as the general job scenario is concerned, premier companies like Adobe and Deloitte are hiring from NSIT in great numbers, not least due to the exemplary performance of you, our alumni, in these companies.
So as you go through this site, you will find yourself delving into NSIT's present self, and as you go deep, you will find that the underlying structure still remains the same. Happy reminiscing!
